The Highest Incentive … Or the Strongest?
In sales, walkaway power is pricing power. And walkaway
power is leveraged by the power of having an available alternative. To what
degree of power does self-interest hold the intellect? Does the intellect have an alternative? Or, is it already the alternative?
If either self-interest or clarity of thought should find a
distinction between them, an exclusive choice, who would pay the higher
price? ... who would follow whom?
For a human to become more than his animality he must not
only achieve the clarity that spies the difference but in having spied that
difference accept that the animal has
not evolved to accommodate this clarity, but that it has evolved to accommodate
its rank, and that in over-crowding, everyone finds his health if there is an alternate ladder possible within his
condition. For a very few, clarity of
thought constitutes in itself their
projection of rank, precisely feeling it by having defined the difference
between this state of mind and the natural
animal state. From here it makes no sense to force truth onto those who will
only be sickened by it, and in this very process show that we have not progressed far enough to see how our dominance mechanism
is at play, precisely when we claim to “help” them. Forcing rank relations onto the world, by employing Truth, is an extension of
animal behavior, compromising the behavior that Truth demands of stronger
spirits. It has the additional disadvantage of leaving one’s outcome dependent
upon other’s interpretations and the prevailing conditions … conditions which both
determine our innovative ladders of
rank and now prevent their ladders,
which had been created precisely to overcome the recognition of ever-present subordination.
Over neither of the above does one have sufficient control. They are drowning and drag us down with them. The show
of sufficiency is dependent. The
eye alone is sufficient. When clarity is not enough, neither are
we.
