A matter of mind: For a cognitive experience to be “deep” there must be an anchor from which we begin a measurement. The simplicity of faces relative to the range of intelligible expressions derivable from their thinnest distinctions account for some of our deepest intellectual projections. Faces are more similar than different by measurement but more different than similar as originators and enablers of intelligible expression.
